Success in Sadhana by HH Bala Periyaval

".. It is rarer still to attain success in our Sadhanas because our own past karma would interfere in many ways, in the form of obstacles. We ourselves would not be able to recognize them as obstacles. First kind of Obstacle is from Pratikoola Mitra. He comes to you as a friend and offers something seemingly in your own interest. In effect, he would, however, distract you. The second kind of obstacle would be in the form of test by divine agencies, to find out if we are really sincere about our purpose. Finally the inimical forces would impede the Sadhaka and try to stop him from making spiritual progress. Even Sri Hanuman faced the three obstacles (from Mainaka - Pramana asambhavana; from Surasai - Prameya Asambhavana; from Chayagrahi - Vipareeta asambhavana) while he was engaged in Rama Kainkaryam.

We are devotees of the Great Mother Shri Amritanandamayi Devi and are also devotees and admirers of the Kanchi Mutt, a mutt which was decorated by no less a Saint than the Paramacharya of Kanchi. Recently my family and me happened to take Darshan of our most beloved Guru, Shri Amritanandamayi. Here are a few things AMMA has to say regarding the Unfortunate Arrest of Jayendra Periava and we heard it directly from Her:

1. She is really pained to hear about the charges mounted on a saint like him.
2. He is the ONLY Shankaracharaya who really served the society by
performing a lot of Social Service to the poor and the needy.
3. She also expressed hope that the whole episode will pass like a "bad
dream"

A Message from Swami Dayananda Saraswati

Resolution passed at the conference of 26 Matadhipadhis held at Sringeri between November 27 & 28, 2004

(Translation of the original resolution in Kannada)

In April, in Sringeri Sri Kshetra, a conference of the various matadhipathis propounding Sankara philosophy was held. In that conference it was decided to spread the message all over the states through Sankara Sandesha Saptaha (Sankara Message Week) . Accordingly this was successfully celebrated during the period of Nov. 16-22 in 350 centres and is finally culminated in the main function held at Sringeri Maha Kshetra on 27 and 28 November in the August presence of Sri Sri Mahasannidhanam Of Sringeri Saradha Peetham & 25 main matadhipathis. The following decision were taken

The conference directed that

1. In the present disturbed situation every human being who wishes to have peace should incorporate the principles propounded by Adi Sankara in their day to day life and to achieve peace.

2. The principle of equality propounded by Sankara is applicable even today and it is to be implemented from every household.

3. The conference also exhorted that all development and infrastructure activities under taken all over the country should keep in mind or take into account the sensitive eco-structure of the Western Ghats and decision taken should ensure that they do not adversely after the environment.

4. The main principle of our age-old civilisation is Ahimsa (non-violence). The conference also directs that violent activities should not be followed in this process.

5. Cow is treated as equivalent to our mother figure. The fact that cow slaughter is under taken even today all over the country affects the Hindu sentiments. We expect the government to take steps in this direction in order to enforce the ban on cow slaughter.

6. Equality, brotherhood and worldly togetherness are some of the main principles at this moment. The common people feel confused and disturbance among the various communities due to the biased actions of government. The conference urged the govt. to shed the biased action

7. The recent arrest of the Senior Matadipathi on the suspicion of a criminal act and the treatment meted out to Him as a ‘dangerous criminal’ has affected the sentiments of every community. This conference also condemns the treatment brought to a Yathi of his stature who follows the Sanyasa Ashrama, preventing Him from performing his day to day sacred religious activities.

8. The conference also demanded the authority should ensure the day to day religious activities of the Sage within the limits of the law.

All those yathis in the two days conference blessed the devotees to have such conferences every now and then (repeatedly)in order to implement these principles in their day to day activities.

Turn for the better

The prediction of an astrologer, Pundit Mulugu Ramalingeswara Vara Prasad of Hyderabad, indicates that the onset of Uttarayana Punya Kalam will bring good times for Perival. The AP High Court dismissed a writ petition implicating the Seer is crimes in Mahboobnagar, AP on January 2. The TN High Court provided bail to Perival on January 3rd. While these two decisions are relatively minor in the overall scheme of things, they represent a turn in direction for the better.

Wake-up call

Let me start with a compliment - "appreciate the effort in starting the website, and the effort to bring out the sathya"

I asked my friend to go to kanchi-sathya for info. This was his first comment.

In the main page soon as I open it , the main article(Dont
releasee.....heart) says :"it is going to be a month tomorrww ..."

It is about two months now, this site is too old, does not have any info on the latest developments.

Needless to say he started browsing dinamani or whatever else masala coated stuff.

First page is definitely the most important. Dont have to be sensational breaing news, but should avoid references that show that it is too old ( IMHO even 1 week is too old) on the first page. It should defnitely exist on site, but the main page need to be updated
regularly.

Goshala run by Sankara Mutt shifted
Monday January 3 2005 11:53 IST

KANCHEEPURAM: A goshala (cow protection centre) run by the Sankara mutt has been shifted out of the Ekambareswarar temple premises following a directive from the State government’s Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department.

The goshala with about 100 cows had been functioning there for the past few years. It has shifted to a Mutt-run place in Enathur near Kancheepuram.
