Orders reserved on seer’s bail plea
Wednesday February 23 2005 00:00 IST

CHENNAI: Principal Sessions Judge P Murugesan on Tuesday reserved for February 24 orders on the anticipatory bail application from Kanchi acharya Jayendra Saraswati, who apprehended arrest in the ‘Thirukottiyur Madhavan assault case.’

Seer’s senior advocate K S Dinakaran argued that Madhavan had sustained injuries only in a road accident. There was also inordinate delay in filing the complaint, which was an after-thought, he contended.

Public Prosecutor K Doraisamy submitted that there was previous enmity between Madhavan and the seer as the former had alleged various allegations against the latter.

Madhavan had been already warned of serious consequences by the seer. So he was afraid of lodging a complaint. He gained courage when many complaints had been filed against the seer. Hence, the delay was not a matter to be considered, the PP added.
