Assault case: Seer’s bail hearing adjourned to Feb 22

PTICHENNAI: A sessions court on Thursday adjourned to February 22 the anticipatory bail application filed by Kanchi seer Jayendra Saraswati who apprehended arrest in connection with an assault on a temple priest in August last.
The principal sessions judge P Murugesan adjourned the hearing on a plea from the city Public Prosecutor T V Ganesan.
The case relates an assault on Tirukoshttiyur Madhavan in the city on August 3 last.
According to a standing High Court order, the seer cannot be arrested in the case till the disposal of his bail application.
The seer, who was arrested on November 11 last in connection with the Sankararaman murder case and released on bail on January 11.
