Kanchi seer to be served chargesheet on Feb 10

KANCHEEPURAM: Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati, an accused in the Sankararaman murder case, was summoned by the Judicial Magistrate-I court here on Monday to present himself before the magistrate on February 10 to receive a copy of the chargesheet.

On February 10, Jayendra Saraswati will be present along with the other accused, including junior pontiff Vijayendra Saraswati, Mutt former manager Sundaresa Iyer, Raghu and others, as it is mandatory to serve the copies to all the accused at one go.

Significantly, for the first time after his arrest on November 11, Jayendra Saraswathi will come face to face with Vijayendra and other members of the Mutt. Jayendra Saraswati has been named as accused No.1 in the murder case.

He is also an accused in the auditor Radhakrishnan assault case, for which the chargesheet is expected to be filed before the month-end. He has also sought anticipatory bails in the accounts tampering case and Thirukottiyur Madhavan assault case.

After the copies are served, the magistrate will commit the chargesheet to the Sessions Court, where the court of trial will be decided. Charges will be framed in the court of trial.

RECEIVES SUMMONS: Kanchi senior pontiff Jayendra Saraswathi, who has been staying at the Kalavai Mutt, on Tuesday received the summons from the Kancheepuram court to collect the chargesheet in the Sankararaman murder case.

According to sources, he affixed his thumb impression on the acknowledgement papers. He has been summoned to collect the chargesheet on February 10.
