Kanchi Acharya inaugurates heart treatment center

Chennai, April 29th: The Kanchi Shankaracharya Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal inaugurated a heart treatment center and an ‘intensive care unit’ at the P.P. Jain Hospital on Thursday at Pammal, a suburb of Chennai.
The centers, constructed at a cost of 20 lakhs will be used to conduct treatment and heart operations for the benefit of the poor.
In the inauguration ceremony, the Acharya said “all of us must do something good for the society and the poor people around us. Keeping this in mind, the Shankara Mutt is serving the people by providing hospitals, schools and colleges.”
Senior High Court lawyers R. Gandhi, Mambalam Public Health Center director T.S. Raghavan and others attended the function. This function is the first public event that the Acharya has attended in the last few months.
The public gathered for the function chanted “Jaya Jaya Shankara, Hara Hara Shankara” at the arrival of the Acharya. The Acharya blessed all the people who had gathered there.
