Sri Jayendrar’s petition in Sankararaman Case: SC issues notice to TN Govt

New Delhi: Supreme Court of India issued a notice to Tamil Nadu government regarding the petition submitted by Sri Jayendrar protesting TN government counsel participating in the prosecution. Hearing on this petition as conducted by the bench consisting of Justices Arun Kumar and Tarun Chatterjee. The judges ordered Tamil Nadu government to provide a reply within two weeks in response to the complaint filed by Sri Jayendrar. Sri Jayendrar had complained in his petition that Tamil Nadu government counsel will be biased and hence, Pondicherry counsel should represent prosecution. The judges postponed hearing on the petition to the first week of April.

New Delhi Mar 28: Supreme Court of India has sent a notice to Tamil Government regarding an appeal filed by Sri Jayendrar requesting Pondicherry counsel to appear for prosecution instead of TN government counsel.
The Supreme Court had previously ordered hearing on Sankararaman case to be held in Pondicherry. Accordingly the case was transferred to Pondicherry sessions court. After that, Sri Jayendrar’s petition barring Tamil Nadu government counsel appearing for prosecution with the Chengelput court was rejected. Similar appeal to Chennai High court was also rejected.
Sri Jayendrar, later appealed to the Supreme Court of India. The bench consisting of Arun Kumar and Tarun Chatterjee took this appeal for hearing yesterday. They ordered the Tamil Nadu government to provide a reply to the appeal within 15 days and adjourned the hearing .
