Plea to uplift tribals, downtrodden
Thursday May 25 2006 10:37 ISTHUBLI: Sri Jayendra Saraswati Swamiji, pontiff of Kanchi Kamakoti, has called upon forward communities to strive to uplift tribals and the downtrodden in order to bring them to the mainstream of society.
Swamiji was delivering a discourse at Sri Krishnendra mutt, organised as part of installation of the idol of Sri Shankaracharya, here on Wednesday.
Stating that any service ought to be liberated from human desire, Swamiji said, "Even though service organisations are located in urban sprawls, the area of service must be extended to rural and tribal areas, then only we can see a smile on the face of God."
He stated that every society member should take active participation in protecting the 'Dharma'. "Rendering service to the destitute would itself pave a way for a commoner to see God," he added. Sri Chidrupaananda Swamiji of Arsha Vidyapeeta, Hubli, was present.
