Kanchi Periava Centenary Celebration: Sri Jayendrar to visit Kudandhai

Kumbakonam: Kanchi Sri Jayendrar is expected participate in the centenary celebrations of Sri Maha Periwa in Kumbokanam on 27th and bless the public.

It has been one hundred years since Kanchi Kamakoti Peetadhipathi Sri Chandrasekarendra Saraswathi Swamigal (Sri Paramacharya) ascended the peetam. A grand procession has been planned to celebrate this centennial year on the 27th of this month at Kumbakonam.

The picture of Sri Paramacharya and his Paduka in a silver Ratham, will be taken around in a procession which will include floats, band music, folk instruments like tharai, thapattai, clarinet, nagaswaram, folk dances including mayilattam, Oyilattam, Karagattam, Thevaram and Veda Gosham.

When the procession reaches Sri Sankara Mutt, Kanchi Sri Jayendrar will honor and bless important and prominent persons.

Public spokesperson for the committee arranging this celebration requested people from surrounding districts including Tanjore, Thiruvarur, and Nagai to come in great numbers and participate in this historic event.
