Sankararaman Murder Case Postponed to 28th
http://www.dinamalar.com/2006mar21/court_ind4.aspPondicherry: Hearing on the Sankararaman murder case has been postponed to the 28th of March.
Hearing on this case was held yesterday at Pondicherry Sessions court under Judge Chinnapandi’s jurisdiction. Sri Jayendrar, Sri Vijayendrar, Sundaresa Iyer, Appu and 22 others were present at the hearing. Meenakshi Sundaram and Arumugam could not make it to the hearing due to health conditions. It was requested on behalf of Sri Jayendrar, that the hearing be postponed. The government counsels protested against this request and asked that the two absentees be brought to court tomorrow.
Venkateswaran, the counsel representing Sri Jayendrar said that he would not be able to come to court tomorrow as he (the counsel) had travelled from Mumbai. He also said that an appeal had been filed in the Supreme Court against the Chennai High court’s rejection of Sri Jayendrar’s petition. This petition was regarding his objection to the government counsel of Tamil Nadu continuing to prosecute the case in Pondicherry. He also stated that the hearing on the petition is expected to be held on the 27th. Accepting this explanation, Judge Chinnapandi postponed the hearing to the 28th.
