1008 ‘Vilaku’ pooja at the Kalavai Shankara Mutt

Kalavai: Thousands of devotees took part in the 1008 ‘Thiru Vilaku’ pooja (1008 holy lamp pooja) conducted yesterday at the Kalavai Shankara Mutt. Because of the presence of both the Acharyas, Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamigal and Sri Vijayendra Saraswathi Swamigal, there is a festive atmosphere in the Kalavai Mutt. Several special poojas and Yagyas and Veda Parayanams are done daily.
The Chandra Moulishwarar Pooja is being jointly conducted everyday in the morning by both the Acharyas. The Vasantha Navarathri Pooja, which was started on April 9th, was completed yesterday [17th April].
Yesterday, the 1008 Thiru Vilaku Pooja was also conducted on behalf of ‘Hindu Makkal Munetra Kazagham’ of Avadi, Chennai. This Pooja was conducted under the supervision of the Acharyas, praying for the welfare of all the people in the current Tamil New Year.
Thousands of devotees took part in this Pooja. The President of the South Indian Prohit Association, Sri Arcot Narashiman conducted the ‘Thiru Vilaku’ pooja using Mantras in Tamil. Many locals from Kalavai village also took part in this pooja.
Right after this, a Katcheri (Music event) involving more than 40 Nathaswaram and Thavil Vidhvans was conducted. The event was conducted for about 5 hours. Several thousands of devotees from Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh took part in the Katcheri.
All the devotees who attended the Poojas and Katcheri were blessed by both the Acharyas.
