Sankararaman Murder Case: SP Premkumar Suspended for asking Ravi Subramanian to escape

Chennai Sep 8: Traffic Superintendent, Kumbakonam, Premkumar has been suspended.

He was suspended after a complaint against him was lodged by Ravi Subramaniam, approver in the Sankararaman case, that he was asked to run away.

In the year 2004, manaer of Varadaraja Perumal temple, Sankararaman was murdered at Kanchipuram. Sri Jayendrar, Sri Vijayendrar, Appu, Ravi Subramaniam and twenty five others were arrested for this case. Ravi Subramanian turned as approver for this case.

This case was investigated by SP Premkumar who was transferred to Kumbakonam and now serving as Traffic Vigilance Officer.

Ravi Subramanian had complained that Sri Jayendrar was threatening him and hence was kept in a special cell in Kanchipuram. A few days ago, Ravi Subramaniam was taken to the Government hospital at Chennai where S.P. Premkumar met him.

Premkumar had threatened Ravi Subramaniam that as an approver, he would have to spend his time in prison until the completion of the case. He would be better of escaping from the government to Nepal and go to any foreign country from there.

This was noticed by the intelligence people who obtained a statement from Ravi Subramaniam. This complaint was sent to DGP T.Mukherji.

Following the complaint, the home office has ordered the suspension of SP Premkumar.
