Warrant against Kanchi Acharya recalled

CHENNAI: A Sessions Court in the city, which had issued a bailable warrant against Kanchi Acharya Jayendra Saraswathy on Monday, recalled the same on Tuesday.

This followed the appearance of the seer before First Additional Sessions Judge A R Selvakumar on Tuesday.

Annoyed by the continuous absence of the Acharya in his court in connection with the Radhakrishnan assault case, the judge, on April 2 issued the warrant. But, he kept it in abeyance for a day following a submission from the counsel for the seer that he would appear the very next day (on Tuesday). Accordingly, the Acharya made his presence in the court and the judge recalled the warrant.

The case stands adjourned to April 19.
