Pondicherry: A petition has been filed in the Chennai High Court protesting the prosecution’s representation by Tamil Nadu counsels. The hearing on the Kanchi Varadaraja Perumal temple manager Sankararaman’s murder case is currently being held at the Sessions Court at Pondicherry. A statement condemning the Tamil Nadu government’s lawyers participating in this case was filed on behalf of Sri Jayendrar and Sri Vijayendrar. The Tamil Nadu government filed a reply to this statement.

After hearing arguments from both sides, Judge Chinnapandi ordered that the Tamil Nadu government’s lawyers have the right to represent the prosecution.

The hearing on this case was held yesterday where Sri Jayendrar, Sri Vijayendrar’s poorvashrama brother Raghu, Appu, Kadiravan and 22 others were present. Sri Vijayendrar and Sundaresa Iyer were not present at the hearing.

When the hearing proceedings started, Sri Jayendrar’s lawyer Dinakaran said that a petition had been filed with the Chennai High Court following this court’s dismissal of a prior petition to disallow Tamil Nadu government lawyers from representing the prosecution. In light of this petition, he requested that the hearing be adjourned.

The Tamil Nadu government’s counsel Balasundaram protested and announced that they were ready to file charges and start arguments.

After hearing both sides, Chief Justice Chinnapandi adjourned the hearing to the 15th.
