New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India has stayed any hearing on the Sankararaman murder case until further notice. The hearing on the Sankararaman murder case in which Sri Jayendrar has been cited as the main accused, was being held at the Pondicherry Sessions Court. A petition was filed on behalf of Sri Jayendrar in the Supreme Court objecting Tamil Nadu counsel appearing in the case on behalf of prosecution.

The Bench containing Justices K.G.Balakrishnan, T.K.Jain took up the petition for hearing. They issued an interim injunction on any hearings in this case. Hearing on the petition has been postponed to July 2nd. Earlier the senior counsel representing Sri Jayendrar, Nariman requested the bench to stop the hearings which were scheduled to happen on a daily basis from June 7th. He also stated that the case is being held outside of Tamil Nadu in Pondicherry. Hence, instead of Tamil Nadu government counsel, a lawyer employed by any other government should represent prosecution. The Bench accepted this petition for hearing.
Tamil Nadu government’s senior counsel Rajeev Dhawan protested saying the case was filed in Tamil Nadu and this government’s lawyers have every right to represent this case
