KANCHEEPURAM: Lawyers affiliated to the Kancheepuram Bar Association on Monday decided to continue with their boycott of courts till March 7, when the association would be meeting again to chalk out the strategy for their further course of action.Association president M Madanagopal told this website's newspaper that during the boycott period the bail pleas of advocates A Shanmugam, Y Thiagarajan and Revathy Vasudevan would come up for hearing before the Chengalpattu Sessions Court. The writ petition of Shanmugam seeking CBI inquiry into the case of alleged intimidation of Ravi Subramaniam at the sub-jail would also be heard.
Regarding protests by a section of lawyers to Shanmugam’s appearance before the court on February 24, Madanagopal said the issue was discussed. However, he refused to elaborate on what was discussed or what action would be taken in this regard.
He added that the issue was discussed at the Madras Bar Association meeting held in Chennai and in a meeting of the Bar Council of India.
