Dear Devotees

The Managing Committee has immense pleasure in informing that the KANCHI MAHASWAMI PEETAROHANA SHATABDI MAHOTSAV TRUST has Organized programmes from February 13, 2006 to celebrate the centenary year of Peetarohanam of Shri Kanchi Mahaswamigal. To Start with "Sundarakaandam" upanyasam was rendered by Saralabashu Sengalipuram Sri K.Subramaniya Deekshidar in the month of March followed by Br.Sri Ganesha Sharma of Chennai on "Mahaswamigal Mahimai" in April. Shri N.Ramashrama of Kumbakonam spoke on "Sankara Vijayam" in May. In the month of June Dr.Sudha Seshayyan was invited to talk on "Gurumahimai" after the function of 'Mahaperiyaval Jayanthi' followed by Annadanam. July upanyasam was rendered by Br.Sri. Damodara Deekshidar of Sengalipuram on "Nandanar Puranam,Siruthondanayanar Puranam and Kannappa Nayanar Puranam". A bhajan by Mulund Bhajana Samaj group was organized for the month of August.

In the month of September upanyasam on "Sundra Kaandam" was rendered by Br.Sri.Kesava Deeksidar of Sengalipuram at Ram Mandir, Bangur Nagar, Goregaon.

Dr.Sri B.Sundarkumar has confirmed to deliver upanyasam for 10 days from October 31, 2006 as per programme overleaf. Apart from monthly programmes, we propose to have a concluding grand programme in the month of Feburary/March 2007.

Apart from concluing our usual functions such as Annadanam,Samashti Upanayanam, Samashti Bikhshavandanam & Surya Namaskarams on Sundays and Jayantis of Acharyals, as a prelude to Mahaswamigal Peetarohana Shatabdi celebrations, the sabha decided to conduct puja on his Birth Nakshatram of 'Anusham' every month starting from August 2005.

In the words of Kanchi Mahaswamigal " A Resurgent and strong Hinduism is necessary not only for the salvation of the Hindus but also for the betterment of the world. The Veda, which is the basic scripture of Hinduism, is not a sectarian text. Whetever truth was declared by any great prophet can be traced to the Vedas. On the riverbanks of the Vedic dharma, the various religions are like the bathing ghats. In the distant past, the vedic religion was spread throughout the world. Gradually other religions appeared in various parts of the world, each emphasizing some aspects of the religion of the Veda. To India belongs the privilege of preserving this ancient dharma in its pristine purity and comprehensive nature."

Maha Swamigal was concerned and worried over the decline of the traditional Vedic education in recent years resulting in the paucity of Vedic scholars to carry forward the great Vedic heritage to posterity. He showed the world that the teachings of the Veda are for the good, and apply with equal force to entire universe, transcending religious leaning. Our Sabha in our own humble way have started a Veda Class again and support the VEDA RAKSHANA NIDHI TRUST set up by the Maha Swamigal. He used to say if you have not so far learned the Vedas, contribute your might to Veda padasalas and allied organizations so that you too could be part of the maha yagna. The sabha is encouraged to propagate the teachings of Mahaswamigal in all the spheres and your support is needed for that.

All bhaktas are cordially invited to attend the discourses, participate in the functions, donate liberally and be the recipients of the blessings of Acharyas and Goddess Kanchi Kamakshi. Donations may be sent to registered office or handed over to the committee members.

Managing Committee.

(Constituted with the blessings and directions of
Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam Jagadguru Sri Sankaracharya Swamigal)

Namaskarams,
His Holiness Jagadguru Sankaracharya Shri Jayendra Saraswati Swamigal of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetham paid a brief visit to Delhi on the 17th and 18th September, 2006.

On the afternoon of the 17th September, 2006, His Holiness addressed a gathering of sadhus and sants which had been meeting under the auspices of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad to discuss the plan of action to arrest the decline of Hindu dharma. He appealed to the sadhus and sants to establish mass contacts with the people in their respective local areas, impart education to them about our dharma and its practice and create a greater awareness of our dharma in their minds. They should try to mobilize the people in their areas in larger and larger numbers to create a mass movement which could take up in right earnest a campaign for the renaissance of our Hindu dharma.

On the morning of the 18th September, 2006, His Holiness paid a visit to the plot in Noida where construction had been taken up for an Adi Sankara temple.

Later in the day, he paid a visit to Malai Mandir to formally open the Alankara Mandapam. He recalled his first visit to Delhi for the Kumbhabhishekam of that temple. He said that he was happy to find that the Committee Members, led by Shri R Venkataraman and others, had been taking up a number of activities in furtherance of temple worship, such as celebration of festivals, organizing bhajans, satsang etc. He was happy that the Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple had come up as also the hall where Adi Sanakra's sphatika linga had been installed. He hoped that these activities will continue and gather greater momentum in the future.

Later in the day, he released a book written by Dr Subramanian Swamy, entitled " Hindus Under Siege - The Way Out" at a special function held for the purpose at the India International Centre, New Delhi. He appreciated the fact that Dr Subramanian Swamy had done a lot of work in analyzing the various types of onslaughts that are being targeted on Hindu dharma or Vaidik Sanatana Dharma and had also presented a plan of action to meet those challenges and bring about a renaissance of Hindu dharma.

His Holiness pointed out that like the moon which has been passing through the waxing and waning phases during the Shuklapaksha and Krishnapaksha, Hindu dharma has also had its ups and downs. But the interesting thing to note is that the waning is immediately followed by waxing. The ever shining sun when it is hidden by clouds appears to have lost its effulgence, but when a strong gust of wind disperses the clouds, the sun starts shining once again in all its effulgence. Likewise the glory of Hindu dharma has been temporarily hidden by onslaughts against it and when a great mass movement of people rises to foil these onslaughts, our ancient Hindu dharma will start shining once again.Dr Subramanian Swamy's book would serve its purpose if instead of merely remaining content with reading the book, the people mobilize themselves to practise our dharma in greater and greater measure and help restore the ancient glory of our Hindu dharma by bringing about a renaissance of it.

During his stay at the Shri Devi Kamakshi Mandir in New Delhi during those two days, he gave darshan and blessings to the continuous stream of devotees who were coming to the temple from morning till night.

On Tuesday, the 19th September 2006, His Holiness left for Govindapuram in Tamil Nadu to participate in the Aradhana celebrations of Bodhendra Swamigal.
